It's been eight years since Modest Mouse's last album, and 11 since they found unlikely mainstream success. For frontman Isaac Brock, that's a very long time to stew and think about what he's done. Most people don't know it, but there are actually five, not four, time zones in the United States: Eastern, Central, Mountain, Pacific, and Isaac time — as in Isaac Brock, singer, guitarist, chief songwriter, and all-around mastermind of the very popular underground major-label rock band Modest Mouse. The Isaac time zone is usually situated within the city limits of Portland, Oregon, where he resides, but point of fact it's located wherever he's standing at the moment. Isaac time is kind of like bullet time in The Matrix , only slower. Or better yet, it's like that scene in Interstellar where they explore that water planet orbiting a black hole for 20 minutes, and by the time they get back to the ship, 20 years have passed on Earth. If you want to experience it for yourself, you really need to go to Portland.
Streaming music videos YouTube, Vimeo, etc. Audience recorded bootlegs are also acceptable, as long as the show's bootleg is not for sale. We host a collection of live Modest Mouse audience-recorded bootlegs on our wiki page. Ansel self. Edit: so I'm gonna go ahead and say this definitely confirms that Ansel was his step brother and the sister he mentions in Ansel is his sister Snow. While Brock mulls over the big ideas, he also gets achingly personal on Ansel, which details a last trip he took with his brother, who died in an avalanche. I figured we'd be able to reconnect at some point and fix that," he says. It's just good to remember that.
Isaac Kristofer Brock born July 9, is the lead singer, guitarist, banjoist, and songwriter for the American indie rock band Modest Mouse , as well as his side project band , Ugly Casanova. As a songwriter he is noted for wordplay and frequent use of metaphors, philosophical lyrics, themes of oppressive rural lifestyles, and certain phrases and sayings commonly used in the early to midth century and in blue collar environments. Brock was born in Helena, Montana. During his childhood, he lived with his mother and sister in Montana and Oregon in hippie communes and churches before moving to Issaquah, Washington when he was 11 years old. When his mother's house flooded three times, she was forced to move into her future husband's trailer.
